My work is aimed at exploring the emotional amplitude in sectional spaces usually architectural objects, using minimal elements of composition.

Architecture and painting are part of my everyday life, exploring the pleasures of life. Architectural ideas are the supplement of my paintings and painting is the supplement of my architectural work. They are interconnected to each other. For me painting is an integral part of designing, helping to discover and explore the ideas which become forms.

My work is very architectural. Through paintings I express the emotional part of the building. Painting like architecture is a journey through emotions. Where architecture creates a sense of emotions in a 3 dimensional place, painting evolves emotions through a 2 dimensional surface. I use paintings as a conceptual medium to find an architectural idea. Through my paintings I create the emotional experience I want to give to my buildings. Instead of sketches I put my first ideas in painting. It doesn’t give only a 3d representation of an object, but a spatial journey. Colours and minimal shapes allow me to explore the more important sense of architectural creations-emotions. As Le Corbusier said: “architecture is the art of creating emotions in space either pleasure or chaotic”.

My work starts with choosing the most dramatic, unique path through the object that reflects the main architectural idea of the building. Making hundreds of cross sections through selected paths I create the emotional wavy diagram with high and low amplitudes. The maximum points has the most intensive and powerful sudden changes. Exploring the emotional amplitude in sectional spaces gives the concept a 3 dimensional drawing. For me three dimensional experience is analysed as vertical, horizontal, and in an emotional depth. Like in architecture, where the spatial sequence is not defined, my paintings follow the same pattern, colours and minimal shapes interlaces between each other. It is vibrant experience of space.

I am inspired by Mark Rothko’s unique work: combinations in a palette of hot and cold, bright and dark, shiny and matte, rapturous and melancholy colours, call forth feelings and recreate the breadth, variety, drama, depth and panorama of the orchestral music and as he said “my art is not abstract, it lives and breathes”.

The spatial studies of the architectural objects are the most important thing in my work. By using this method it helps me to understand deeper the character of spatial amusement, the character of exceptional landscape, unique nature, small object or unconscious space.

Roughness, simplicity in form, minimal details – are the most important elements in my paintings as in architecture. As I am using minimal elements in my paintings’ compositions, the colour becomes very powerful. Each colour has millions of feelings as the scores in the music. Without limits…The colours in my paintings come itself. They are talking about space character and felt emotions going through. Minimal elements and accurate choice of colour create desirable dialogue between viewer's perception and me.
